Welcome to The Gentle Nest
care centered on the mother.

Ancestral care for the modern mother.

About Me

Welcome! My name is Kemi, and The Gentle Nest is the expression of my heart’s deepest calling to nurture. In Yoruba, Kemi means "pamper me" or "care for me lovingly", a name that has always felt like a quiet reflection of who I am. I was born to care, to hold space, and to restore.

Rooted in the rich traditions of West African postpartum care and inspired by global rituals of mothering, I created The Gentle Nest to bring softness, warmth, and presence to new mothers right where they are. This isn’t just a service; it’s a return to the village, to the knowing that mothers deserve to be held too. This is not another clinical care, it is your space, to connect with your body.

About Me

Herbal foot soak, nourishment,   calm body and belly massage, positive affirmations,
body wrapping...

Why Choose Me

Because I'm inspired by time-honored postpartum rituals from around the world, especially West Africa, my  in-home care is designed to meet mothers where they are, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. There’s no need to tidy up or step outside. I bring everything needed to create a moment of peace, nourishment, and gentle care. Each visit is guided by softness, presence, and deep listening. Whether you need rest, nourishment, or simply someone to hold space for you and your baby, my care adapts to you, not the other way around. Postpartum care should feel like an exhale. I offer a calm, unhurried presence to help you feel safe, seen, and restored.

Acknowledgement of Origins

I want to honor the deep wisdom and nurturing traditions that guide my work at The Gentle Nest.

I give thanks to the Yoruba people of West Africa, my own ancestors, whose rich postpartum traditions of warmth, ritual, and care are the foundation of my practice. I also acknowledge the influence of Mexican postpartum traditions, especially la cuarentena, which teaches us the importance of rest, nourishment, and community in the sacred window after birth.

I live and work on the traditional territories of Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 in Alberta—ancestral lands of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, and Métis Nation of Alberta. I recognize the enduring presence, wisdom, and resilience of Indigenous peoples and offer my respect to the Elders past, present, and emerging.

This work is a weaving of traditions—an offering of care that is rooted in reverence, softness, and the belief that mothers deserve to be held too.
